REPRESENTAÇÕES DO PENSAMENTO SOCIAL ACERCA DO CASAMENTO INTER-RACIAL

RESUMO

Alguns estudos demonstram como opera o conceito de raça em nossa sociedade e a persistência da interdição do casamento entre indivíduos considerados racialmente diferentes, o que nos leva a refletir sobre a importância e a influência da raça como categoria social e as representações existentes a respeito do casamento inter-racial. Neste artigo, são apresentadas e discutidas as representações sociológicas dominantes sobre o casamento inter-racial, muitas vezes reduzidas a uma visão monológica das relações raciais. Após criticar esta concepção, discuto as mudanças ocorridas no casamento e, por fim, proponho uma nova maneira de analisar os casamentos inter-raciais.

ABSTRACT

Some studies demonstrate how operates the race concept in Brazilian society and the persistence of the injunction of the marriage between people consider racially different. This situation leads us to reflect about the importance and influence of race as social category and the representations about the interracial marriage. In this paper, I introduce and discuss the dominant sociological representations about the interracial marriage, many times limited to monological view about racial relations. After criticizing this conception, I discuss the changes happened in the marriage and, finally, I propose a new way to analyze the interracial marriages.
